MANOWAR: Audio Interview With JOEY DEMAIO Posted Online

December 24, 2008

Italian news blog Musica Metal has uploaded an audio interview with MANOWAR bass player Joey DeMaio. The chat covers a wide range of topics, including the Magic Circle Festival, MANOWAR's position in the Guinness World Of Records, whether heavy metal is better than sex, and MANOWAR's relationship to silence.

The twenty-minute interview can be streamed on Musica Metal (click on the green play button to launch audio).

When asked about the reason MANOWAR hadn't done an interview with a British magazine in 12 years prior to 2007, DeMaio replied, "There were a lot of people there at the time working in the English press that had their head up their ass, so we decided we're not going to involve ourselves with people who don't believe in the band and in true metal. If people want to waste their time trying to say things about MANOWAR or the MANOWAR fans, they can go fuck themselves; that's all. It's very simple. Why don't they go buy a guitar and try to write good songs and then make their own band and [organize] their own festival with their own fans, and see what it's like? I don't have time for cretins. Life is too short. Why do I wanna fucking waste my time with idiots when I've got fans from all over the world that tattoo my face and my name, and the name of MANOWAR, as a band — guys and girls from all over the fucking world? Why do I wanna waste my time with cretins when I have only so much time on this Earth? I'm gonna give that time and energy to the people who deserve it."
